Project Runway is Back!

Season 9 of Project Runway started yesterday and all I have to say is “Yay!” I love all the fashion inspiration and advice on this show – whether it be the editing eye of Nina Garcia, critiques from Michael Kors, or the squeals of delight about something fashion-forward from Heidi Klum. I have to say – Heidi’s outfit during the first part of last night’s episode, the black pant with the printed top, was absolutely fabulous. I cannot wait to find a top like that to pair with my slouchy tuxedo pants in the fall.

The Watch: Functional Fashion

Women's Breightling
In an effort to be on time more often, my friend Olvia recently mentioned that she is looking for a watch. Being a watch-lover myself, I was super-supportive of her endeavor, and decided to devote a post to it.

Watches are a perfect example of functional jewelry. Now that everyone owns a cell phone, the need for a watch has died down significantly, though. However, the watch as a jewelry statement has sky-rocketed. Iconic fashion brands, ranging from Chanel to Gucci to Michael Kors have all let out watch lines. Recently, the women’s watch style has shifted from the usual skinny bands to a more masculine look: a thick band with a large dial - for example, the new women's Breightling to the left. Cameron Diaz, in her recent movie “Knight & Day”, even wore the men’s Rolex Submariner (my husband recognized it immediately, since it is his prized possession). Whether chunky or classy, a watch can add elegance and style to any outfit, so make sure you have one in your accessory collection.

Beckham Line Coming to H&M

In February 2012 you will all be able to see David Beckham’s undies up close and personal! Except they will be on your man. The incredibly good-looking soccer stud’s line, which includes underwear, is set to be sold at H&M stores, which means that not only will they be super-sexy but also super-affordable. Guess I know what I will be giving to my hubby for Valentine's Day...

Trend Alert - Crop Tops

70's trends are all over the place this season. One of the major revivals are the crop tops. I'm not a big fan of showing midriff, but if done right this look is both chic and spot-on. There are a few things to remember when wearing the crop, though. Too much skin is no good, so make sure to keep it classy by covering up other areas when the midriff is exposed. If you aren't too comfortable showing that much skin, pair with a high-waisted skirt or pants, or wear a tank underneath the crop for a casual, yet chic look. See some great examples below.

Trend Alert - Dyed Tips

I’ve always been a big wuss when it comes to changing up my hair. Thus, I admire people who take risks and debut a new hair style, whether cut or color. An example is Lauren Conrad. She has changed her color from blonde, to brown, to the hot new two-toned trend. Now, Lauren has stepped out with a new blue tip-dyed style. This look is subtle but different. It’s a more street take on the runway trend. What do you think – should this trend stick or should we leave it to the runway and the risk takers?

What to Wear - Camping

It’s Summer – and we all know what that means – Camping! Personally, I love this summer activity. Once you get past all the dirt and bugs, it’s a blast. From the marshmallows, to the long nights playing games and telling jokes, camping is a time to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of life and just be simple. But, with girls, few things can be simple. So, to make your summer camping trips a little easier to handle, I have put together a spread with the some of the camping necessities and where you can find them.

1. Plaid Shirt – Abercrombie & Fitch

2. Bikini – Victoria’s Secret

3. Cap – Anthropologie

4. Sunglasses – Chanel

5. Scarf – Anthropologie

6. Boots – Nordstrom

7. Sandals – Nordstrom

8. Headband – Topshop

Hope you all have many camping trips this summer. Send me some pics of outfits you wore while camping and I’ll share your inspirations.

Celeb Style - Maxi Skirt

Ashley

Minka

Vanessa

Kate

The maxi skirt is the summer version of the maxi dress. I know what you're thinking: Bohemian is not my style. But this look can be worn in many ways and can fit into different styles. Case in point, the look Kate has on above. She pairs the skirt with a silk top for a more dressed-up look. Ashley does a feminine take on the maxi with the white flowy top, perfect for a Saturday brunch outfit. Minka's use of accessories and Vanessa's crop add a fresh new take on the maxi style. Try this look and add some of your own flare to it!

Kardashian Kolors!

If the ring above looks familiar, then you will know that those are the fingers (and nails) of Khloe Kardashian. The Kardashian sisters have been collaborating with Nicole by OPI and will soon debut a new nail polish line. Kourtney and Khloe gave a sneak peak of the new colors they have been working on. The color in the picture above is "Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam." Below is "Kourt is Redy for a Pedi" modeled by Kourtney Kardashian. I hope these colors come out soon - they are perfect for the fall.

Street Style

Stripes, stripes, and more stripes! Every girl needs a striped shirt in her closet this season. This trend was first made popular in the 20s by Coco Chanel herself and it's coming back. The weather is perfect to pull off the cool nautical look. For a more casual outing, accessorize with a fedora and sandals. If you want to add a splash of color, do as Dana does and pair with a slim red belt. Love, love this look!
