Street Style

Our lives are hectic. We are constantly running from one place to another, with little time in between to freshen up and change our outfit. Thus, looks that can easily transition from work to play are essential in our wardrobe. Here, Natalie’s outfit is perfect for going from AM to PM, without skipping a beat. The cardigan cinched by the belt accentuates her waist and makes the look professional and work appropriate. Paired with the just-above-the-knee skirt, the look shows a little skin without going overboard. The femininity of the blouse topped with the structured cardigan plays perfectly against each other. To freshen up the look for an evening engagement, just shed the cardigan and grab a pair of bright pumps – yellow, teal, red, etc. – and you’re ready to go. Next time you have a time crunch in your schedule, remember to plan your wardrobe accordingly.

Celeb Style - Camilla Bella

It isn't often that we can dress like celebrities. But every now-and-then, some of our favorite hollywood stars wear something that we can actually afford: like this printed maxi dress worn by Camilla Bella to a Coldplay concert. This ruffled chiffon maxi is from Express and is only $88.00. So if you haven't bought the perfect maxi dress yet, hurry over to your nearest Express store and try this one on.

Street Style

Want to turn a summer look into something fall appropriate? Add a sweater! I love how this fashionista wore a sweater over her bright romper. The color palette - grey and coral - look amazing together and the sweater adds just enough warmth to the romper, making it perfect for the cooler weather. This is a great trick to use on other summer attire - dresses, maxi skirts, etc. Try this look out for yourself and send me a pic!

Trend Alert - 60's Mod Dress

It looks like we are going back in time. Summer was all about the 70's, and fall fashion is heading back into the 60's. Celebrities are channeling Twiggy and bringing back the mod dress, but in a fresh way. The mod dress is being revamped with collars and designs. This style is so simple that anyone can pull it off and still look chic, so keep your eye out for a new mod dress for yourself.

Gossip Girl Style

The new season of Gossip Girl is not set to premier until the end of September, but everyone’s already scouting out what the cast is wearing while taping the show. This show is perfect for oogling trends done impeccably – and even if you’re not into all the drama, you can still get some great fashion inspiration from show. See below for pics of some of the GG cast taping the new season.

The shoes, the bag, the color - love all of it. This is spot-on for fall.

This is maxi done right. The vest with the white T and the bright red color - perfection!
Would you expect any less from Serena?

Gossip Girl is not just a style guide for the ladies; men can get some great fashion advice from this show (I absolutely love Chuck's style). Here, Blaire's other man, the prince, looks smart and sleek in a perfectly fitted grey suit.

The green LV bag and the booties make this summer dress into a great fall look.

Project Runway is Back!

Season 9 of Project Runway started yesterday and all I have to say is “Yay!” I love all the fashion inspiration and advice on this show – whether it be the editing eye of Nina Garcia, critiques from Michael Kors, or the squeals of delight about something fashion-forward from Heidi Klum. I have to say – Heidi’s outfit during the first part of last night’s episode, the black pant with the printed top, was absolutely fabulous. I cannot wait to find a top like that to pair with my slouchy tuxedo pants in the fall.

The Watch: Functional Fashion

Women's Breightling
In an effort to be on time more often, my friend Olvia recently mentioned that she is looking for a watch. Being a watch-lover myself, I was super-supportive of her endeavor, and decided to devote a post to it.

Watches are a perfect example of functional jewelry. Now that everyone owns a cell phone, the need for a watch has died down significantly, though. However, the watch as a jewelry statement has sky-rocketed. Iconic fashion brands, ranging from Chanel to Gucci to Michael Kors have all let out watch lines. Recently, the women’s watch style has shifted from the usual skinny bands to a more masculine look: a thick band with a large dial - for example, the new women's Breightling to the left. Cameron Diaz, in her recent movie “Knight & Day”, even wore the men’s Rolex Submariner (my husband recognized it immediately, since it is his prized possession). Whether chunky or classy, a watch can add elegance and style to any outfit, so make sure you have one in your accessory collection.
